Project Manager, Transportation Sourcing

BUSINESS UNIT: Supply Chain/Planning, Transport

The offered position is an integral part of the Transport management team in Asia Pacific, and is a key contributor to the overall strategy of the Vestas Asia Pacific organization.

Under the Supply Chain & Planning group, the Transport department consists of three main functions: general transport, project transport, and customs. Each of these functions support international and domestic transportation activities for Vestas production, sales, and service business units across Asia Pacific.  We are currently active in 10 countries in the region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

STRATEGY

·        Responsible for the development & ution of regional sourcing/procurement strategies for business units across Asia Pacific including alignment with global/regional strategies.

SUPPLY/DEMAND ASSESSMENT & PLANNING

·        Identify business requirements/internal demand (short and long term)

·        Research and develop supply market

·        Assess supply risks and opportunities

·        Perform spend/TCO analysis

·        Create sustainable supplier partnerships and ensure sustainable cost reductions are achieved through innovation and a firm understanding of APAC markets.

·        Develop, lead, and manage the process of vendor identification & qualification

·        Ensure supplier capabilities/capacity match business requirements including establishment of contingency plans

·        Ensure suppliers are, at all times, fully compliant with local laws & regulations and Vestas Safety & Code of Conduct policies

·        Execute competitive reviews of existing supplier base, analyze existing contracts

·        Identifies key competencies that need to be developed or optimized within the supplier base

·        Maintain and promote awareness of legislative issues for the category

PROCESS & EXECUTION

·        Negotiate regional prices and regional contracts

·        Collect detailed specification of services required for projects/tenders.  Identify suppliers short-list

·        Prepare tenders / request for quotations (RFQ)

·        Develop and ute solid negotiation strategies

·        Review, evaluate, negotiate, and suppliers

·        Build and maintain linkages between procurement and the business units

·        Develop productivity and savings programs and ensure all reporting and compliance requirements are met for the areas of responsibility

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT & EXECUTION.

·        Lead and ute contracting phase according to company guidelines including internal customer communication

·        Manage & maintain contracts, be the go to person for all contract related issues for the category

·        Manage ramp down of expiring contracts, mid-term evaluations/negotiations, and renewals

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

·        Develop and maintain supplier performance programs covering safety, quality, cost, and service level including KPIs, benchmarking/indexing, and recognition programs

·        Drive and measure supplier performance

·        Conduct supplier performance reviews, develop improvement plans

·        Carry out and maintain vigorous audit programs in line with Vestas policies

·        As part of supplier performance programs, ensure suppliers maintain required capacity

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

·        Communication and relationship development with senior global, regional, and local stakeholders 

·        Provide direction and leadership on transportation sourcing strategies and ution to regional and local stakeholders in Asia Pacific

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Minimum Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in business related discipline.  Transport/Logistics or Supply Chain major (preferred).

·        Minimum 10 years of transportation and logistics experience with strong/recent focus on strategic sourcing of all modes of transportation and logistics services in the Asia Pacific region.  Experience in sourcing project transport (e.g. vessel chartering) is an advantage.

·        Primary work location: Beijing,China

·        This position requires approximately 25% travel, domestically and internationally
